White-breasted Cormorant (Phalacrocorax lucidus), Lake Naivasha, Kenya
Kenya’s Eastern Rift Valley is home to over 400 species of birds, among other animals, including the White-Breasted Cormorant, which is the only form of Great Cormorant found in sub-Saharan Africa. Inland populations of this species frequent rivers and dams with adequate fish populations. If disturbed by human activity, they are likely to leave their nests for extended periods of time, exposing their chicks to predation.
